When I searched for recipes for glycerin tinctures, I found tons of recipes, but the only problem was they took weeks or months to make. So, I set out to find a way to make it within a day. And I did! After talking to a few friends, I was given a recipe that worked very well for me. So, I decided to share that recipe with you!

What You’ll Need

  • 1 16 Oz (450 ml) bottle of Vegetable Glycerin
  • 1 Oz (30 ml) of dry trim leaf, or ¾ ounce (20 gr) of dry marijuana buds.
  • A mason jar big enough to hold both the glycerin and marijuana.
  • A pot.
  • 1 sheet of cheesecloth

How To Make Medicated Glycerin Tincture

Step #1: Grind Buds or Sugar Leaf It’s best for the glycerin to have more area to touch the sugar leaf or bud. That being said, starts by grinding your chosen plant matter using a blender. You don’t want it as fine as sand, but you do want to break most of the material up as good as possible.

Step #2: Mix Plant Matter and Glycerin Now pour the entire 16 ounce bottle of Now vegetable glycerin into your mason jar. After doing so, pour the entire amount of plant matter you have set aside for the project into the mason jar. Next, simply close the jar and shake vigorously until you can tell that the mixture as as well mixed as possible.

Step #3: Set Up A Double Boiler To do so, fill your pot about halfway with water. Now, put your pot on a burner on the stove and set that burner to low. You don’t want the water ever to come to a boil, instead, you want it just hot enough to warm up the THC and CBD on the plant matter just enough for it to become active.

Step #4: Cooking The Tincture This is the easiest part of the process. Simply let the mixture simmer in the double boil set up for at least 8 hours. The tincture will be strongest at 12 hours in my experience. As time passes, every half hour or so, shake the jar very well to agitate the mixture and cause the THC and CBD to be cooked into the glycerin.

Step #5: Filter Your Tincture Take your tincture off of the burner. Take the lid off of the mason jar. You’ll notice that the mason jar has 2 pieces, one large circle that can be popped out of the outer ring that actually screws to the jar. Take that circle out. Now, place two or three layers of cheesecloth on top of the jar and screw the outer ring of the lid down over it. Next, simply flip the jar upside down over a bowl and allow draining until there is no visible glycerin left in the jar. This process can take some time, so be patient.

Step #6: Squeeze Remaining Glycerin Out of Plant Matter Take the lid off of the jar, and pour the remaining material from the jar into the cheesecloth. Now squeeze as much of the glycerin that has been soaked into the leaf out of it.

Step #7: Enjoy Your Glycerin Now your glycerin is done. Add a quarter cup of it to your favorite candy, brownie, or food recipe. You can also add about an eighth of a cup to a normal bottle of soda for medicated soda! It is so universal; you can add it into just about any thing. Also, if you have muscle pain, rub the glycerin on the sore areas for relief.
